We don't have this kind of issue with film or book or television. This stuff will always live on via "piracy", but I bet there are a lot of people who still hold Mega Man Legends near and dear to their hearts and they absolutely must have a PS1, 3, or Vita to play it today and the latter 2 are much less cost prohibitive in terms of actually buying a copy of the games. I harp on this because it is a powerful reminder of how fragile and ethereal gaming culture is even now, despite the internet. I am not saying the Vita should have been a financial success, but it does have this strange and powerful appeal to a certain niche market that somehow has not been made completely obsolete a decade later. Admittedly, PS3's are a little more ubiquitous and easy to sell people on, but the Vita lets you play on the go on a gorgeous screen.

Honest to God, if you wanted to play these games without acquiring an ISO online but also without literally playing hundreds upon hundreds of dollars for a used PS1 game, then you have to either own a Vita or a PS3. Finally, Legends 1 and 2 AND The Misadventures of Tron Bonne are available! Capcom may have all but abandoned this series but at least they are available somewhere digitally. Do they know that Powered Up is so good that it makes everything else they do seem worse by comparison? It is so cool that you can legit buy the PSP X remake today for a reasonable cost but it absolutely sucks that Powered Up was left behind (again, unless you take matters into your own hands). And finally, they have the Mega Man X remake but not Powered Up. X5-6 are here but not 4, which seems odd but seems like Nintendo's faulty since that one was also on SNES (or maybe they are embarrassed by the cutscenes). Mega Man 8 is also offered, which makes sense. That is such a neat thing to offer for an affordable price, but I don't understand why 5-6 are excluded. They later got reworked into the Anniversary Collection for PS2, Xbox, and Gamecube, which ironically no longer have any way to access them. Those are really cool PS1 versions of the original NES games that added stuff like artwork, music, and the ability to swap weapons live with L and R. Bizarrely, the digital store (as it stands today) offers the untranslated Rockman Complete Works for Mega Man 1-4, but not 5 or 6.

In theory, the Vita can play any PS1/PSP game, but only if it is offered digitally (or you know how to get around that). The Vita is such a neat little curio and I absolutely adore mine for all the weird things he can do. Side note on Vita: I actually busted out my vita to check since the web store for Vita has been taken down.
